The standard A4 sheet, depending on the paragraph spacing, the font size, drawings/charts/footnotes, can be smaller or larger than 1 translation page. In Word files, the number of characters with spaces can be checked via the status bar at the bottom of the screen or the Quick Access Toolbar and the Word Count dialog box (or Review > Word Count). The price for translation of Word and Excel files is based on input texts in a source language and is set at a fixed rate. In files of other formats (pdf, jpeg, dwg, etc.), the exact word/character count for the input text is unavailable; therefore, when a quote is requested, we can give only a provisional price of the translation. The final price is based on the output text (character count). There is a translator joke: If you do not want to pay for spaces, we can send you the translated text without spaces;) But joking aside, spaces are as important in writing as any words and punctuation, as they separate meaningful wholes from each other. There is no text without spaces. There is no music without pauses. There is no composition without space.

In our company, the minimum order size is 1 standard translation page. Even if you have only one sentence to translate, the translator will need time to explore the context and to find the best wording. Sometimes, the time spent on translation of one sentence can be compared with the time needed to translate a whole page: Everything depends on the subject-matter, context, the target language and the customer’s requirements. In addition, all completed translations are edited and proofread, thus requiring additional time and effort. Finally, each ordered translation is coordinated by the manager who is responsible for the communication among all the process participants and for the outcome.

The minimum order size parameters also apply to interpreting services: 3 hours offline and 2 hours online. In the first case, the interpreter spends time on preparation and travel; in the second case, time will be spent only on preparation, which may often be quite time-consuming, as the linguist needs to grasp the context and delve in the process that started quite a while ago. The interpreter works not only during the hours of interpretation, but also prior to them. Every customer wants his high-stakes negotiation to be taken care by an experienced and subject-matter competent linguist.

The translation price includes the translation completed by a professional and subject-matter proficient translator; editing and proofreading by in-house specialists, the work of the manager who clarifies the goals, sets objectives and coordinates all the stages of the project, supervises the observance of agreed deadlines and requirements. It is a basic package. It can be significantly expanded when we have to handle sophisticated or specific localization projects.

Yes, you can. We will proofread your translation and edit it if needed; the price will be charged at the rate of editing (50% of the translation rate), though only if less than 50% of the text has been corrected.

Our translation quality guarantee is backed up by the long-standing experience of our company and employees, by the procedures and regulations developed in compliance with Russian and international quality standards for translation services (GOST R 50.1.027-2014; ISO 17100:2015), by the multi-level approval process for freelance translators/interpreters and by the editors who proofread and edit 99% of the translated texts. Why only 99? There is always one percent left when a customer needs translation to be done urgently and is ready to trade quality for quicker turnaround time. Editing/proofreading can be skipped only at the request and with the written consent of the customer. To prove our quality assurance, we are ready to confirm our financial liability for compliance with the deadlines and quality requirements in the signed agreement.

Translation/interpreting services do not require any special licenses in the Russian Federation (to our great regret). The proof of a translator’s qualification can be their education, credentials, experience, letters of recommendation, successfully completed tests. The same applies to translation companies, including the compliance with the Russian and international quality standards. Our translators and interpreters have all of the above; the required proofs and credentials can be provided upon the request. Our rules and regulations have been developed for many years, incorporating the best translation practices and standards (GOST R 50.1.027-2014; ISO 17100:2015), being responsive to the realities of the Russian translation services market.

Certainly, we can do it for you. If you do not need the translation to be certified in your presence, we can do everything remotely: Documents can be sent by email; payments can be made online on our website or using other platforms; the soft or scanned copy of the completed translation can be sent to you. You may even do without phone calls: You can discuss all details with the manager by email or in messengers (Telegram, WhatsApp). If you have original documents to be translated, you can bring them or have them delivered to us, and we will return them and the completed translation by express delivery.

Translation is a complex multi-step process involving several specialists. When received, the source texts are analyzed by the project manager who then assigns them to a translator. The translator can normally translate only 7−10 translation pages a day. In addition, all the translated texts are edited and proofread, thus adding up time required to make sure that the translation is accurate and high-quality.

Sometimes we may need services of a layout designer who is responsible for formatting of the translated text and makes sure that it matches the source document. All these steps are governed by our in-house standards and are essential to get the required outcome. The turnaround time can definitely be reduced; however, it may entail involvement of a larger number of linguists whose work must be coordinated by the manager, work during off-hours and, consequently, higher prices.

When a customer needs translation of business presentation materials and scientific texts intended for a foreign/international audience, we recommend choosing native-speaking translators, as only a native speaker will be able to convey accurately subtle nuances of the language and culture. The translated text will be properly adapted to fit the requirements of a foreign business or an academic environment; it will sound authentic to the addressee or the target audience, and such authenticity can be ensured by a translator who is a native speaker of the target language or by a linguist who has lived and worked in the target language and culture environment for at least 10 or, preferably, more years.

Of course! Once the translation has been completed, we will send it to the customer for approval and we always look into the comments and make the required corrections. The translation has lifetime warranty. If you find a mistake in the translated text, we will correct it at no charge at any time, if it is made through our fault.

Yes, we store all the translated documents. You can have your text at any time by ordering its delivery and after paying a small fee; if required, we can have it notarized.

Yes, we do. The confidentiality of your personal data or information is always a priority. All the data are stored on the remote and secure server. The access to them is allowed only to the in-house employees who handle the relevant translation project. All process participants — customers, in-house employees and freelance linguists — have to sign the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

The notary public certification is more legally effective and is accepted by most of the organizations, while the certification by the company’s seal can be accepted by fewer authorities. We recommend you to find out what requirements the target authority has for translation certification.

The Federal Notarial Chamber sets annually the ceiling rates for notarial legal and clerical services for each constituent entity of the Russian Federation. The rates are available at the website of the Sverdlovsk Region Notarial Chamber. There you can also find the rates for authentication of the translator’s signature.

We work with several notaries public who are located in the center of the city and who our translators are registered with. The physical presence of the customer at the notary public office is not required; you only have to send us the document that needs to be notarized, and we will do it for you. You will have to come to our office only once to pick up your notarized documents. You can also order express delivery by courier.

An individual document is a document having the name, registration number, the signature of the designated person and the seal. The diploma and the transcript have all the above; therefore, the notary public registers them as separate documents. You can order translation of your diploma without the transcript or translation of the transcript without the diploma or translation of both documents.

Simultaneous and consecutive interpretation differs by the operating mode of an interpreter. In consecutive interpretation, the interpreter listens to a large segment of speech in the source language and translates it to the target language once the speaker makes a pause. In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter translates while the speaker is speaking. Simultaneous interpretation requires special competence and skills; there are not many high-class specialists, and it is the most labor-consuming type of translation: As simultaneous interpretation requires intense concentration, the interpreters get tired quickly and, generally, work in pairs, switching roles. Therefore, simultaneous interpretation services are much more expensive. In addition, simultaneous interpreters usually work in special booths equipped with a console with audio connections for headsets and a microphone. The provision of special equipment is also a major factor contributing to the price difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. Simultaneous interpretation is a good choice when the audience is large and the time allotted to each speaker is strictly limited.

The minimum order size for interpreting offline (when the interpreter arrives at the site of the negotiations) is 3 hours. Even if the interpreter is engaged in translation only for half an hour, he or she will need time to get prepared for interpreting and to get to the destination. In addition, by confirming his/her availability for interpreting requested by a customer, the interpreter refuses from other potential orders at least for half-day or for the whole day. By paying for his/her services provided for 3 hours, we partially compensate for the incurred losses.

There are three types of the apostille: The apostille for an original document, the apostille for a notarized copy and the apostille for a translated document. Each of these apostilles certifies different facts: The apostille affixed to the original document certifies its authenticity; the apostille affixed to a notarized copy authenticates the signature and the seal of the notary public who, in his/her turn, certifies the trueness of the document; the apostille attached to a notarized translated text authenticates the signature and the seal of the notary public who, in his/her turn, certified the authenticity of the translator’s signature. The information about the type of the apostille required in your case can be requested from the organization you are going to submit your documents to.

Apostille issuance is a procedure of simplified legalization for the countries that joined the 1961 Hague Convention. Residents of other countries will need consular legalization — a more complicated and long process.

In Russia, only Russian documents can be legalized. You will not be able to have your diploma legalized if it is issued in a foreign country, even though it is written in the Russian language. Foreign documents are legalized in the country of issue, and we will be happy to help you with their foreign legalization. Here is a case of complex legalization in another country. Desktop publishing is formatting the layout of the translated document to fit the layout and format of the source document. Desktop publishing is an additional service billed separately. If files are submitted in an editable format, desktop publishing may not be required. If the translated document must fit the format of the original document, desktop publishing cannot be skipped, even if you provided an editable file. There are document formats, for example, drawings, graphs and charts, where the translated information becomes meaningless without formatting and turns into a mere collection of words and figures.

If the translation is done by a professional translator — a native German speaker working with the English — German pair, the quality will not be affected; on the contrary, the translation will be highly authentic. If the translation involves Russian, when the text is translated from English to Russian and then from Russian to German, the risk of semantic and stylistic losses is quite high.
